Green Team Sustainability Initiative

The Fayetteville Public Schools Green Team Committee coordinates and supports district-wide ecological sustainability activities as well as interaction between our program and those being conducted by the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas and the University of Arkansas.

NEW! Green Team Initiatives for 2009-2010

Completed:

• All schools now have a recycling dumpster for paper that is picked up by the city
• Habitotes were passed out to every teacher, student and staff member in the district

Future:

• To partner with the Walton College to make available the book Eco Effect by Neale Godfrey to all district students and teachers. There will be workshops and lessons available to district teachers. FHS Green Team members will introduce lessons to elementary students in the district.
• To implement the Environmental Protection Agency's Indoor Environmental Quality Tolls for Schools Action Kit, in order to improve indoor air quality for all students and staff in the Fayetteville Public School District.
• To study ways to improve the nutrition of all students through local food, school gardens, etc. and to use environmentally friendly means to accomplish this initiative.
