Recycling at Owl Creek

Owl Creek Middle School students are involved in a school wide recycling project.

Owl Creek Environmental Center

Owl Creek Middle School Green Team students are also going to act as volunteers during the construction of the Environmental Center at Owl Creek. Several years ago, an Environmental Center was started at Jefferson School. It was possible to move the Green House, but it was damaged in the process. A Fayetteville High School student, Mitch Mitchell, who is working to complete his Eagle Scout project will act as a project manager having plans drawn, lining up professional help asneeded, ordering materials, and scheduling volunteer work days. Green Teamers will participate in family/faculty work days with local scouts and other volunteers in order to complete the project. The final center will have the green house of course, but additionally 8-10 raised beds, a composting area, and a tool center.This project will culminate in the refurbishment of the greenhouse and the installation of an iron fence around the area. Construction of this center will begin in December 2007. The center should be complete and ready for Spring planting.
