Ramay Junior High Green Activities

Green Team Leader: Henry Childress

Ramay Jr. High has had a school wide recycling program for over 5 years. Recycling bins in each room are collected by students once a week. Items recycled include mixed paper, newspaper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans and cardboard. During the first semester we collected 2024 lbs total of all recycled material.

There have also been city block clean ups around the school in observance of Earth Day in the Spring.

Each year there is an advertising campaign at the school to inform students of the need to reduce, recycle and reuse.

This year we plan to try again to recycle the plastic bottles in the lunchroom. This has been attempted on two different occasions in past years with little success. This years group of Green Team members are driven to make it work.

We are also planning a rain garden for the campus if cleared with landscape architects of the district.
